Experience Required

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in machine shop environment
  • Experienced with machining parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
  • Operate power equipment
  • Ability to recognize industrial machine operational issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

  • Above average math skills
  • Self-starter and motivator
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Works well with others
  • Strictly adhere to shop and safety procedures
  • Problem sensitivity and problem solving

General Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Walking, prolonged standing, bending, squatting and lifting
  • Ability to tolerate hot/cold shop climate
  • Ability to work overtime when needed

  • Calipers – Dial calipers, Vernier calipers
  • Gauges and Inspection Fixtures – Dial indicators, ring gauges, O.D. and I.D. micrometers, telescoping gauges
  • Lathes – Engine lathes, vertical turning lathes
  • Workshop presses – Arbor presses, radial drill presses
